THE EVERGREEN PODCAST FOR OPB

I wrote, recorded and produced an episode of OREGON PUBLIC BROADCASTING’s podcast The Evergreen on Portland's boutique audio scene. I had a great time speaking with pedal crafters, mic makers, cable specialists, musicians, producers and even city politicians.

I led the story on Zak Nelson, a Portland guitarist, composer and effects pedal maker. When he clocks out for the day at Catalinbread, he goes home to make experimental effect units under his own brand Safehouse Audio.

My only regret is I wasn’t able to use music from Zak’s band Aan throughout the entire episode. But OPB wanted to mix it themselves…

I spoke to Gil Divine from Divine Noise cables, Peter G. Holmström, the guitarist for The Dandy Warhols, Pete International Airport and (on bass for) Sun Atoms, legendary producer Larry Crane, Philip Graham from Ear Trumpet Labs, Meara McLaughlin from MusicPortland, and City Councilor Jamie Dunphy.
